Most adult dogs thrive on 2%–3% of their ideal bodyweight per day. As a guide, less active or overweight dogs sit closer to 2%, average dogs do well at around 2.5%, and active or lean dogs may need up to 3%. Puppies, on the other hand, require more to support their rapid growth and typically eat 5%–8% of their current bodyweight per day, split into 3–4 smaller meals depending on age. These guidelines offer a great starting point, but every dog is different—so always keep an eye on their condition and adjust as needed.
